Looking for Easter dresses? Here are beautiful Easter dresses (or spring) dresses to inspire and help celebrate the Easter holiday in style, and then wear all spring!
Why do we dress up for Easter?
For generations people have dressed up for Easter. This tradition dates back all the way to ancient times when Christians began to wear new, clean clothes on Easter Sunday to symbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new life for believers.
Dressing up for Easter Sunday is traditional but not theological. As it says in the Bible in 1 Samuel 16:7, “ the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
What are popular colors for Easter dresses?
Pastel colors in pink, blue, mauve, yellow or green as well as white and floral prints are popular at Easter and springtime. A polka dot dress is a classic look and can be worn through any season.
When is Easter?
Easter is the first Sunday after the full Moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox. If the full Moon falls on a Sunday then Easter is the next Sunday.
Styles of Easter Dresses
There are a variety of dresses that are popular for spring and summer outfits (and year round), and depending on the look and fit you’re going for will keep you cool, comfortable and looking beautiful in the spring and summer season.
Maxi dresses are long dresses that reach your ankles or sometimes the floor. They are form fitting at the top, while the bottom of the dress tends to be flowy and loose. They are popular because they are free flowing and comfortable.
A midi dress is a dress whose hem ends halfway between the knee and ankle. A midi dress allows you to flaunt your flats or your heels, depending on your mood. You can even pair a midi with high-strapped boots for a night out.
A flattering wrap dress is a dress with a front closure formed by wrapping one side across the other, and is fastened at the side or tied at the back. It follows your body, enhancing and concealing at the same time, which is why it is great for all body types.
A casual cotton t-shirt dress is a soft and light dress similar to t-shirts but longer. They are great for lounging around home or pair it with a Jean jacket for a casual look if heading out. They come in a variety of neck styles including crew neck, v-neck, bateau, and scoop. Sleeve lengths also range from sleeveless to capped, short sleeved, 3/4 length, and long sleeved.
Shirt dresses look like a shirt. these typically have buttons that go all the way down, as well as a collar and pockets on the breast. It’s like an elongated version of a button-down work shirt, which is usually belted at the waist.
