Additional Picnic Basket Items
Besides your picnic menu items in your picnic basket, you may want to include other items to add ambience to your picnic such as flowers, a soft picnic blanket or comfy chairs, or a special playlist on your phone. Other items might include a mesh food cover, a utensil and napkin caddy and little white bags for cookies.
It’s fun to plan and add details to your picnic to elevate the experience or keep it as simple as you want.
Spring Onion and Parmesan Cheese Scones
These savoury scones are completely addictive, especially warm straight from the oven. With this recipe I found the dough quite crumbly and found it easiest to roll out the dough and then cut into pieces before baking as in the photo below.
In the above recipe, to convert the measurements to American: 8 oz. self raising flour=2 cups all purpose flour with 4 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt. 2 oz cheese=4 Tbsp, 2 oz. butter=4 Tbsp. 200/220 C=400 F.

With its simple ingredients list, this asparagus tart is easy to whip up for any occasion (including the start of asparagus season!).
Asparagus and Carmelized Onion Tartlets
These bite-sized asparagus tartlets are SO so good, made with a combination of caramelized onion, cheese and asparagus, they are ridiculously easy to make thanks to the mini phyllo pastry shells.
