Weight Watchers Smartpoints

Weight Watchers use a point system, instead of counting calories to watch their progress on weight loss daily. The points system depends on a variety of factors such as nutrients, sugar, fat, and protein. If food is high in protein then it has lower smart points. But if food is high in fat or sugar, it has more smart points meaning you have to eat less of it. It’s really all about healthy food choices and healthy recipe ideas.

Did you know that chicken breast (boneless and skinless) is actually worth zero smart points on the weight watcher’s list.

Be sure to check the labels and ensure that you are purchasing extra lean or at least 98% fat-free meat. Deli meat that is specifically skinless chicken breast is also worth zero points.

As long as the chicken you buy contains less than 2% of non-zero points ingredients such as oil, sugar, food starch, and others, it is worth zero smart points. Be careful though for processed meat such as deli turkey that may have dark meat. These items, along with store-bought pre-marinated chicken or turkey breasts, do not belong to the ZeroPoint foods list. The complete list of Zero Point Foods Can be found on their website.

What are the Different weight Watcher Plans?

There are 3 individual plans that you can follow while being on the WW program. The Blue plan (same as Freestyle plan), the Purple plan & the Green plan. The green plan, has a lot of plain fruits and veggies, the blue plan has more starchy meals, and the purple plan has lots of pasta and grains.

All the plans use the SmartPoint system. The SmartPoints system is just a really simple way of guiding you towards making healthier food choices. Smartpoints are personally allocated based on your weight, height, sex, age, etc.

In 2022 the PersonalPoints program was introduced where you are given a quiz where you answer questions about what types of food you like to eat, your eating habits, and your activity level. WW will use your answers to give you a personalized list of ZeroPoint foods along with a daily and weekly PersonalPoints budget.

Weight Watchers Tips for Weight Loss

1. Take it one healthy food choice at a time and then repeat.

2. Try not to eat after dinner or 7pm. If you do need to eat in the evening, eat zero point foods.

3. Weight Watchers is a lifestyle, not a diet. It’s about a lifelong lifestyle of making healthy food choices.
